Smithstone House is a Catholic Day Retreat centre run by the Sacred Heart Fathers in Scotland.
For hundreds of years the town of Kilwinning had an abbey at its heart.
Throughout the middle ages the town and abbey flourished as a centre of
education of healing and of spiritual renewal.
There is evidence to suggest that the monks at the abbey had a small
community at Smithstone though its purpose is still unclear. The Sacred
Heart Fathers arrived in 1970 and established a new religious foundation
which initially was concerned for the spiritual and educational development
of young people.
Mass every Sunday at 12 noon in Smithstone House.
